A classification system is used to place inmates in the proper housing area and security level in an attempt to provide safety for the community, the staff, and other inmates.
The classification process begins upon arrival.
Your classification is determined by a number of factors including length of sentence, social and criminal history, any history of violence, escape history, and a number of other important factors and will determine your housing status and identity other needs.
All inmates are classified using objective criteria regardless of sex, race, color religion or national origin.
Once you have been assessed and all information is gathered you are assigned a custody level which affects your housing location and your participation in work programs.

You may appeal any classification decision regarding your housing unit assignment or custody level in writing, or you may be moved to a less restrictive area depending on your behavior.
