What to do with Your Hands

One of the most common questions we’re asked is, “what should I do with my hands on camera?”

Being on camera can make you feel awkward and cause you to give off the wrong impression with your body language. Proper posturing and hand placement contributes as much to your message as what it is you’re saying.

Looking Your Best on Camera

When someone considers appearing in their own video, one of the questions they often ask is ,”Can you make me look better on camera?”

To answer your question, yes and no.

Although there are a few things that can be done in post, it’s not as easy as tweaking a picture to remove a blemish or wrinkle. But there are a few things you can do when preparing for and shooting the video that can help you look better on camera.

How to get more value out of video using a playlist

If you have a series of related videos that you want to present together, or a long video you want to cut into shorter pieces, creating a playlist may be a good solution. Today I’ll talk about setting up a series of related videos using a playlist.

So what is a playlist? It’s a series of videos that play one after another from start to finish. For example we use a playlist for our blogs, but they’re also great for training videos, frequently asked questions, client testimonials… any series of related videos.

Designing Your Thumbnail

In another video, we talked about picking your thumbnail. However, you may not like any of the choices YouTube or Vimeo had for you, so today I wanted to talk about designing your own thumbnail.

Now, there are few pointers to keep in mind when creating and uploading your own picture.

First of all, make sure you create the right size thumbnail. When you open up your photo editing software, make sure the new document you create has a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. This is the default size of most web players, so your thumbnail won’t pull or stretch when you upload it.

Changing Your Thumbnail (Picture displayed before your video plays)

When one of our customers views their video for the very first time, one of the most common questions they ask is “How can I change that picture that shows up before my video starts playing?”

Well, that picture is called a thumbnail and it’s important because it’s what’s visible when the video isn’t playing and can be the deciding factor of whether or not someone wants to watch your video.
