Putting Your Video on Your Website

Putting your video on your website may be the most important step you take in the whole production process. But it can also seem intimidating.

First, you’ll want to upload your video to youtube. It’s easy to go to youtube, set up an account(if you don’t already have one) and upload your video.

You probably don’t want to just copy and paste the URL from the address bar to your website. Doing that will only post the link on your website. To get the video to appear, you’ll need to copy what is called the embed code.

To get this code, go to the video you want to share. Underneath that video you will see a button called “share”. Click that and you can choose Embed.

Before you copy the code, click “Show more” and uncheck “Show suggested videos when the video finishes.” This will make sure the only video your audience sees is yours.

In the “Show More” menu, you can also set how big your video will appear on your page. If you want it to make an impact, pick a bigger size. If it’s going to be off to the side, make it smaller.

Once you have the settings how you want them, copy the embed code, then paste it into your website anywhere you would normally put text. This will put a viewable video in that spot.
